Huawei P9 launches in India at Rs 39,999

Huawei’s flagship device, the P9 smartphone, has been launched in India today. The phone will set users back by Rs. 39,999, lining it with some of the higher range offerings found in the country, and will be available exclusively on Flipkart from today, 3:00 pm onwards.

The Huawei P9 launch was highly anticipated by smartphone users in the country, with the main focus of attention being the device’s twin camera set up, which has been “co-engineered with Leica”. In fact, the Huawei p9 is the first in the world to feature dual rear camera made in conjunction with renowned German optics manufacturer, Leica. The dual cameras are equipped with a black and white sensor and an RGB sensor, and they work in accordance to deliver a superior-quality image which is a combination of the information received from both of these.

The Huawei P9 and its larger variant, Huawei P9 Plus, were unveiled in China back in April, both of which feature a dual camera set up at the back at the resolution of 12-megapixels each, and an 8-megapixel front facing shooter. But while the company was expected to bring the P9 Plus to India as well, it has not done so.

Despite the hefty price tag, the Huawei P9 comes with mid-level hardware because the cameras here make up the star component of the device. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Huawei P9 features the company’s Emotion UI 4.1 on top, and sports a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS LCD display to enable better viewing angles compared to a standard LCD display. Its processor is a Hi-Silicon Kirin 955 octa-core one, which is coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage (expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card). The smartphone is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery.

The Huawei P9 offers varied connectivity options which include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.1, Infrared, and USB Type-C. The P9 will be available in Ceramic White, Prestige Gold, and Titanium Grey colour variants in the country. Huawei is presently offering a VIP service for the P9 that covers two years warranty and three months display replacement, as well as a pickup and drop service for its customers.
