LeEco and Coolpad’s Cool1 smartphone launches on August 16

The makers of the Cool1 smartphone seem to be ready with a launch date at last. The news has surfaced after LeEco sent out invitations to various media personnel for the upcoming launch event, scheduled to take place in China, home to the company, on August 16.

The smartphone that marks a joint venture by LeEco and CoolPad, both emerging powerhouses from China, has been in the news for some time now and has quite understandably fuelled a lot of rumours, despite the makers revealing very less information about the new device, with the exception of a teaser photo of the phone that revealed a dual camera set up at the back. LeEco is at present the largest shareholder of CoolPad with a 28.9% stake in the company, and the new smartphone will be the flagship device that the two companies are developing jointly. The integration is expected to help Coolpad‘s products to align with LeEco‘s ecosystem model — platform, content, terminal and application.

The two companies have been teasing their upcoming smartphone for quite a while, but the name Cool1 was revealed only recently. Some of the specifications of the Cool1 that have been rumoured heavily about are that phone is likely to sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a fingerprint sensor at the back . The phone is also supposed to be powered by a powerful 3,500 mAh battery according to the same rumours.

The new Cool1 will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and  it will most likely feature both the LeEco and CoolPad UIs on top. The user will probably be given the option to choose their own custom interface from between these two. The teaser gave no clues about the possible pricing of the upcoming device.

However, most of the specification details that are floating around about the phone are largely unconfirmed and should be, therefore, taken with a pinch of salt.
