In the current era of expensive smartphones, times are tough for folks who still want to own a mobile phone solely for the most basic of purposes. But it looks like devices that cater to such users are still in the running. Microsoft has today launched the new Nokia 216 Dual SIM feature phone at Rs 2,495 in India.
The announcement comes on the heels of an earlier announcement by Microsoft, according to which the company’s feature phone assets were being sold to FIH Mobile Limited, a subsidiary of Foxconn. Significantly, at around the same time, Nokia had announced that it would be making a comeback to the cellular device market with an affiliated Finnish manufacturing company called HMD global Oy.
The Nokia 216 Dual SIM feature phone will sport a 2.4-inch QVGA display with a pixel resolution of 240×320 pixels. The new phone sports two cameras, one primary and the other front facing. Both snappers are of VGA quality and will come coupled with an LED flash for each side. The Nokia 216 Dual SIM runs the Nokia Series 30+ operating system and comes with expandable memory up to 32 GB via MicroSD card. Connectivity options on the new phone include Micro-USB, 3.5mm AV connector, Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM and HSP/HFP.
The new Nokia phone is capable of storing over 2000 contacts and will come with FM Radio, an MP3 player, and a video player. It is backed by a 1,020 mAh battery which the makers claim will provide a talk time of up to 18 hours and standby time of up to 19 days. The Nokia 216 Dual SIM features a sturdy body made of polycarbonate and measures 118.0×50.02×13.5 mm in dimensions. Users can also download a new free Gameloft game every month for one year. They will also be able to download more games and apps from the Opera Store.
The new Nokia 216 Dual SIM feature phone will be available commercially from October 24 and will come in Black, Grey, and Blue colour options.
