Halo 6 Release Date, News, and Updates: Gameplay Features to Expect

Halo 6: 343 Industries‘ Halo series is not coming to an end anytime soon, so fans are naturally excited about the next game in the successful franchise. While Halo 6 has not officially been announced by Microsoft, it certainly is not a stretch to imagine that the game is already underway, which in turn means that perhaps we are not too far away from its release date.

Halo 6 may be up for release next year

This follows after series director Frank O’Connor told Gamesradar back in 2015 that they had a clear vision of what Halo 6 was going to be like. Additionally, O’Connor and Studio Head Bonnie Ross confirmed to the publication that the Halo series has a long future ahead of it like any of the other AAA franchises in existence. “We’re doing serious real planning and even some writing on the next game already, and that’s a luxury – we’ve never been in that position before. So we both know at a very high level what’s going to happen in, say, ten years from now, they said, adding that the plan was to lay the “fictional foundation” for the next twenty years.

With that in mind, it is safe to say that Halo 6 will be something to look forward to. Not only will it be the next chapter in the acclaimed series, but Halo 6 will also be a kind of looking forward to the rest of the franchise. However, the makers have not said anything concrete about the game’s possible release date. So while we wait, let us speculate what wonders Halo 6 might pack in for us.

Halo 6: What to Expect

Considering that Halo 5: Guardians was a very successful instalment winning critics’ praises everywhere, Halo 6 may very well retain some of the features of its predecessor’s gameplay. For instance, players in Halo 6 could also be accompanied by a fireteam of non-playable characters who are present at all times and, like in Halo 5, can be given limited orders using the Xbox controller. Or perhaps, if the developers decide not to burn the feature out, Halo 6 may ditch the team altogether and adopt the earlier games’ short sequences in which the player was accompanied by NPCs. We also expect the Spartan Abilities to make a return with the soldiers being equipped with increased means of travel and combat.

Some reports have also considered the importance of Spartan Locke in the previous game, conjecturing that the character will be brought back in Halo 6. Indeed, in Halo 5, it seemed that Locke had more potential to be explored, and Halo 6 could be the perfect platform to do that. Whatever be the case, Halo 6 will carry forward the sci-fi futuristic saga of all the games of the past and focus on the brewing tensions between humans and alien beings in the face of an interstellar war.

Halo 6 Release Date

Rumour has it that Halo 6 will land sometime during 2018, keeping with the franchise’s general tendency to launch a new title every three years (with the exception of Halo 4, but that may be attributed to the internal changes that the development went through during that period). While this has not been confirmed, we will update our readers as soon as we get a whiff of official announcements about the upcoming game’s release date.

We expect Halo 6 to be launched on the Xbox One and the Microsoft PC. The game may also come with Xbox Play Anywhere support, which means that players who buy the game for either the Xbox One or the Windows 10 PC will be able to play it across both platforms without having to purchase a second copy.
