Nokia, once a leading smartphone making company is trying to get back their foothold in the business and thus all set to make a comeback at the Mobile World Congress in February 2017 with their brand new Android-based handset. Nokia has granted HMD Global the exclusive license to develop the much-anticipated upcoming Nokia Android phone, and they have confirmed that the new Nokia smartphones will be unveiled during the MWC 2017 next year.
A handful of upcoming Nokia Android handsets such as Nokia D1C, Nokia 5320, Nokia 1490 have already been spotted in various benchmark sites and are expected to make a debut at the MWC 2017. Now a new smartphone has been added to that list and also made an appearance on Geekbench with specifications which suggests that the device is going to be an entry-level smartphone.
Though the company has not announced the name of the device, as per the Geekbench listing the handset has been codenamed as Nokia Pixel. And if we talk about the specifications, the Nokia Pixel is going to be powered by a dual-core 1.19GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 SoC, clubbed with 1GB RAM. The handset will run on the latest Android 7.0.1 Nougat. Although the battery capacity of the upcoming device is still unknown, it is reported to support Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
During the tests run by Geekbench, the Nokia Pixel scored 661 on the multi-core test and 404 on the single-core test. As Google has already launched a high-end smartphone with the same name, it is most likely that Nokia will change the name of this Android-based smartphone before the commercial launch.
