MediaTek has now announced two Helio X20 series SoC as a part of their lineup for 2017. Dubbed the Mediatek Helio X23 and X27, the top of the line processors from the Chinese chipmaker aims to replace their predecessors Helio X20 and X25. According to MediaTek’s official website, the Helio X23 and X27 comes with upgrades in terms of the overall performance, video shooting quality and low power consumption. Both the Helio X23 and X27 chip adopts the deca-core three cluster architecture made up of two 2 ARM Cortex-A72 cores, 4 ARM Cortex-A53 cores and another 4 ARM Cortex -A53 cores.
With Qualcomm introducing the latest 10nm chipsets in form of the Snapdragon 835 processor, their immediate competitor will in no way stand back when it comes to incorporating the latest technology advancement in their chipsets. The latest processors by MediaTek use Pilot 3.0 heterogeneous computing technology which brings precision to task scheduling and core allocation and improvement in both processor performance, web browsing experience, application start-up speed. and power consumption. The Helio X27 chip will move to an increased 2.6GHz frequency when compared with the high-end Helio X25.The GPU is also upgraded to 875MHz. The overall performance is also said to have increased by 20% above the X25.

MediaTek Helio X23 and X27 support dual camera photography with the upgraded MediaTek Imagiq image-signal-processing solution. MediaTek Imagiq ISP is the first to integrate colour and mono cameras and depth-of-field applications into a single ISP aimed at both quality and functionality for photography.The Imagine upgraded version brings along picture clarity, saturation, exposure control, character performance and large aperture effects, etc. and significantly provides a colourful “lens” life for smartphone users.
The new chipsets include MiraVision EnergySmart Screen power-saving technology. It modifies the smart display parameters based on the on-screen content and ambient lighting for up to a 25 percent reduction in display power consumption. Also, the Envelope Tracking Module in the new processors provide power-efficiency. It dynamically adjusts the output voltage based on signal strength from the power amplifier, averaging a 15 percent reduction in power consumption during peak output.
