Lenovo-acquired Motorola has been in the news considerably with the company rolling out the latest devices with killer specifications. The company recently rolled out the Moto Z variants along with the latest Moto mods which was received immensely well by the market. Now the tech company is all set to launch their next-in-line flagship devices in form of the Moto G5 line-up, a successor to the G4 series rolled out by Motorola last year.
Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus images and specifications were leaked online in the form of a screenshot posted by The Android Soul. The leaked images, however, failed to identify any major design upgrades from the previous Moto G4 devices pointing to the fact that the main development is under the hood of the device.

Display and Design
Both the Moto G5 and the G5 Plus is expected to feature a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection sporting a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (~401 ppi pixel density). On the design front, based on previous leaks, it is clear that the G5 Plus is expected to include a new rectangular home button on the front which will double up as a fingerprint sensor. Something which will be absent on the Moto G5.
On the rear panel, the G5 Plus will have a circular camera module instead of the older pill-shaped one which was seen on its predecessor G4. Additionally, there have been reports about three different color choices of black, silver, and gold.
Hardware and Software
The latest reports state that the G5 Plus will be powered by a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with Adreno 506 graphics, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which could be further boosted via microSD card. The G5 will sport similar specifications but will offer 16GB internal memory further expandable.
As for the operating system, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are expected to launch with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Camera
The Moto G4 Smartphone was well received on account of its excellent camera sporting DSLR-like picture taking capabilities. The G5 is expected to feature further ramp ups in the optics department featuring an upgrade in camera specifications. The Moto G5 Plus is expected to pack a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, OIS and HDR-video recording capabilities which will be the same in the G5. The devices are further slated to feature a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfie-taking and video calling purposes.
Battery
The Moto G5 variants are also expected to feature a scaling up in the battery department with the upcoming device pegged to offer a more powerful 3080 mAh battery to get its juice from. Although it is a small scale-up from the 3.000 mAh battery from the Moto G4 variants, turbo-charging is brought to the plate by Motorola which will allow the device to achieve fully charge in a matter of 30 minutes.
Moto G5/ Moto G5 Plus Release Date
Motorola is expected to announce the G5 and the G5Plus at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona which is slated to kick off in the end of February. Post its launch, the device will most probably be made available by the manufacturers from mid-march 2017 although more concrete details will definitely surface once the launch events kick off in Spain. Questions pertaining to the price of the device further point at a $230 price tag for the Moto G5 Plus and a $210 price tag for the Moto G5.
