Xiaomi Redmi Note 4: The New Note Boasts of Vastly Improved Battery Life

Xiaomi is looking to introduce its first new phone for the new year, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. The new flagship smartphone will be a Flipkart-exclusive product in India and will debut today. The phone will be available starting January 23. In fact, many potential users and tech enthusiasts will look forward to getting their hands on the Redmi Note 4 today if only for the coveted early adopter status. The release will be presided over by Hugo Barra who is Xiaomi’s global Vice President. Consumers who wish to purchase or book one of the devices are required to register on their website.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Specs and Features

First unveiled in China in 2016, there were initially two variants made available: one set which mated 2GB of RAM with 16GB of internal storage while the second variant mated 3GB of RAM with 64GB of native storage. The new launches in India will boast of the Mediatek MT6797 Helio X20 processor with a deca-core 2.1 GHz CPU and the superb Adreno 506 Graphics Processing Unit or GPU. We expect that the deca-core processor will make the phone lightning fast. The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will boast of a 5.5-inch FHD IPS (In-Plane Display) with a superb 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution with a pixel density of 401 ppi.

It is official! The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 launches in India with three different RAM variants and two storage options. The phones to launch in India will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC.  The RAM versions on offer in India are the 2GB, 3GB and 4GB. The storage variants will include 32GB and 64 GB options. Other features on the phone will be the traditional 4G LTE connectivity with dual-SIM support and a hybrid SIM tray. The expandable memory via MicroSD card on the phone will be 128 GB. VP Barra stated that the Redmi Note 4 will have a 4,100mAh battery which offers a better life than the existing iPhone 7 Plus and Google Pixel XL. Apparently, the Redmi Note 4 battery lasts 70% longer than both the Apple iPhone 7 Plus and Google Pixel XL.

One important feature on the phone will be the presence of the USB Type-C port, a first for the Xiaomi range. The new smartphone will run on  Xiaomi’s latest in-house MIUI 8 which will be based on the now-antiquated Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. We expected something better here for obvious reasons. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will ship with a hybrid SIM slot type which supports either dual-SIM cards or a single Micro-SIM mated to one microSD card. Other features will include the 13MP primary camera with an optional f/2.0 aperture. A 5MP front snapper will be capable of shooting 720p videos while the rear camera can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. Xiaomi has claimed that the front camera can click wide-angle shots which can be extended to 85 degrees. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the back panel just below the primary camera. A PDAF or Phase Detection Autofocus,  dual-tone LED flash and a very interesting infrared sensor complete the camera features on the Redmi Note 4.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Price

In 2016, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 became highly popular in India. We expect that three price bands will be applicable to the new smartphone. We expect the 2GB RAM and the 32GB ROM version at Rs 9,999, the 3GB RAM and the 32GB storage option at Rs 10,999 and the biggest offering, the 4GB RAM mated to the 64GB native storage variant at Rs 12,999. We would advise you to watch this space for more.
