Moto G5: After the Moto G5 Plus, it is now time for the Moto G5 smartphone to set foot on Indian ground. Both the Moto G5 and G5 Plus were launched at the MWC 2017, but while the latter was launched in the country earlier in March, the company had not revealed anything about its plans for its younger sibling’s release.
Now new reports state that the Moto G5 will make its debut in India at an event on April 4, following which prices and other related details will be revealed. The company has already sent out media invites for the event. Like many Moto smartphones preceding it, the Moto G5 will also remain an Amazon exclusive device with additional offers for Amazon Prime. This, however, is at odds with the launch of the G5 Plus which had launched in India exclusively on Flipkart.
Sales for the Moto G5 will commence in the country from April 5, 12 pm IST. In the specs department, the smartphone is a comparatively modest version of the Moto G5 Plus, so we can assume for it to be priced lower than the starting price of Rs 14,999 that the latter model launched at. To go into the details, the Moto G5 comes with a 5.0-inch Full HD display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The fingerprint scanner is placed in front beneath the display. There is a 13 MP primary camera at the back with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF, along with a 5 MP unit in front for selfies and video calling purposes.
On the inside, the Moto G5 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 430 chipset coupled with an Adreno 505 GPU. RAM options include 2GB and 3GB variants. Running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, the smartphone is backed by a removable 2800 mAh battery. There are two color options on offer- Lunar Grey and Fine Gold. Images of a new Blue Sapphire variant have recently been leaked online, but it is not certain if it will be kept exclusive to some markets.
