Huami, which is a sub-brand of Xiaomi, today unveiled its new fitness tracking health band. Called the Amazfit health band, the new health band will have a built-in ECG sensor for better monitoring of health in real time. Expect the fitness tracker to come for around $100 or around 699 Chinese yuan.

The new Huami Amazfit Health Band

The new Huami Amazfit Health Band is on of the most imaginative bands to have been released in recent times. Built with aluminum and stainless steel components, it features a skin-friendly 19mm-wide rubber wristband, which is malleable as well as smooth to the touch. The new fitness device will accommodate a 0.42-inch OLED display. Connectivity options with other smartphones will be done via Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy).

The health band comes with a built-in ECG (an acronym for electrocardiogram) sensor which is able to read and show data when the connected smartphone is switched on or on the band itself. The device also features a PPG photoelectric sensor which is capable of monitoring the wearer’s heart rate as well as sleep patterns. This will be able to detect variations in heart rate besides notifying the wearer in real time. Other features will include a triaxial acceleration sensor, as well as the wristband’s IP67-certified dust and water resistance. Lastly, the entire package weighs only 10 grams, and it relies on an onboard 95mAh battery which can be recharged in 2.5 hours and offers up to seven days of usage on a single charge.

Some other features are also notable. The entire Huami Amazbit Health Band weighs a mere 10 grams. An onboard 95mAh battery which can be recharged in an estimated 90 minutes flat is also on offer. Once charges, expect the band to provide seven days of usage on a single charge.
