Amazon’s Alexa is all set to get a massive boost as far as functionality is concerned. The new feature which is coming to the landmark AI-based digital assistant is the notifications facility which will also make it far more easily and successfully accessible. According to a post on the company’s developers page, this new feature is advanced enough so that developers can now sign up to be notified as and when the associated developer tools do go live. With notifications, the A.I.-based digital assistant and devices with Alexa enabled will be able to deliver information to users in ways that are more “proactive.”
In simple language, this is a sea change in the way we look at the AI-base digital assistants page. With notifications, the A.I.-based digital assistant, as well as devices with Alexa enabled, will now and forever be able to deliver information to the end users in ways, which may seem, for lack of a better word, “proactive.”
Also, Amazon seems to have accidentally given away a large list of companies and groups which are working on this new project, besides tinkering alongside the rank and file developments of Alexa. In a report obtained by Android Headlines, the first few partners will include AccuWeather, The Washington Post, Just Eat, and Life360 who will be among the first to push out notifications as well.
For instance, in the case of the notifications system for The Wall Street Journal being turned on, users will now be able to receive their daily news via Alexa thanks to the new notifications feature. Such a notification would also inform the users of the most recent breaking news stories, articles, and events in which they must be interested. The same feature will also provide AccuWeather notification which will provide weather alerts to the user. The Amazon Alexa service is rolling out aggressively across global markets.
