Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Might Feature An In-Display Fingerprint Scanner

After the release of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones this year, we are left to look forward to the next high-end flagship that is due to come out later this year. In other words, tech enthusiasts around the world are paying close attention to every little information about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The Seoul-based giant’s famed phablet line up has a rather unpleasant recent history, courtesy of the turmoils surrounding its batteries last year. Naturally, we expect big things from Samsung in 2017, which has been a good year for them so far. And if leaks are to be trusted, they have much more in store to capture the fancy of potential buyers.

Just like the Galaxy S8 smartphones, the Galaxy Note 8 has been leaking in full force over the past few weeks. The latest one to have taken the internet by storm depicts the upcoming phablet in a 3D printed form developed from the renders of the actual device (via SlashGear). As is to be expected, there are a few things that will immediately grab your attention, although not all of them appear to be very plausible. Keep in mind that the replica showcased in the video is only a possible indicator to the Note 8’s exteriors.

First off, Samsung apparently has plans to introduce a dual camera set up in the Galaxy Note 8. Now that’s not an entirely new information, but it is the thing underneath the camera (or the lack of it), that has us wondering. Whether or not you ended up buying the Galaxy S8, you must be aware that the weird placement of the fingerprint scanner drew much flak from fans. But the same does not happen to appear in the Galaxy Note 8. In fact, the fingerprint scanner does not physically appear anywhere of the device. This could be a broad implication for one possibility- that Samsung could finally be embedding the sensor beneath the display of the upcoming phablet.

This could well be possible, for Samsung was originally supposed to bring the in-display fingerprint scanner into the Galaxy S8. But reports state they ran short of time to be able to fully develop the feature. With the Galaxy Note 8 slated to come out during the later part of 2017, this plan could finally end up coming to fruition.
