The Nubia M2 Play is now official after it was listed and highlighted on its company website. The launch was a quiet one, however, as Nubia has tended to highlight its recent launches with a media blitz. Judging by the cameras alone, it can safely be said that the new phone is designed for its cameras, which are splendid. This, therefore, will be yet another addition to the camera smartphone genre.
The primary or rear camera will come with a 13-megapixel sensor and will have a lot of superior camera features including a Sony CMOS lens, a f/2.2 aperture and will also support something called a Beauty mode, as well as HDR 4.0 and anti-shake. The front-facing snapper will be a 5-megapixel one which also has a f/2.4 aperture, besides an 84-degree wide angle. In terms of camera features, we have seen that the new phone has a number of beautification modes which will make it attractive to selfie lovers.
Nubia’s tagline for the smartphone is ‘thinner, stronger, faster’. The Nubia M2 Play measures barely 7.9mm in thickness while the metal body comes with a double diamond edge-cut frame. This, the company states, will add to the smoother edges of the phone.
Nubia M2 Play: Specs and Features
There is 2.5D glass as well for extra protection besides a 5.5-inch display with a 1280 x 720 resolution and a PPI of 274. Also, the Nubia M2 Play will come with 3GB RAM, as well as 32GB internal storage, and will be powered using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC, which, we must admit, is slightly underwhelming.
On offer are other features including a headphone jack, as well as the option to expand the storage thanks to a dedicated microSD (up to 128GB). Also present is an extra security layer thanks to a fingerprint sensor, as well as a 3,000 mAh battery, besides Android 7.0 (Nougat). Overlaid on top is the proprietary Nubia UI 5.0. The Nubia M2 Play also has a microUSB charging port; however, there is no USB Type-C adapter in the box.
