Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) Launch Date Apparently Slated for Today

Samsung really doesn’t even have to say anything anymore about their upcoming smartphones. Enthusiastic social media sleuths seem to fulfil that role perfectly. Even though the company officials have not said anything themselves, the Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 edition is apparently slated for launch today. The information was leaked by reputed leakster Roland Quandt through his official Twitter handle. Take a look at it below.

Note that the links that Quandt has included in the post do not lead to anywhere at the moment, so it is safe to assume that the listing was taken down. After the launch of the much talked about Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus, Samsung is expected to introduce the follow up to last year’s Note 7 with the Galaxy Note 8. But the time in the middle is not going to be without launches, and during this period, the South Korean conglomerate is expected to push out some impressive mid-ranged smartphones aimed at the budget buyer.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 edition does not disappoint in those terms, as the certification listings appear to suggest. According to the information weaned from these sources, the Galaxy J5 (2017) will come with an FHD display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, and be powered by Samsung’s own (octa-core) Exynos 7870 chipset clocked at 1.5 GHz. The CPU will be couped with an ARM Mali-T830 GPU along with 2GB of RAM and at least 16GB of internal storage. The latter can be further expanded with the aid of a microSD slot.

In terms of the camera, the new smartphone is said to be equipped with a 13MP unit at the back along with a 13MP camera in front as well. The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) is expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and the handset may be backed by 2600mAh battery. Information related to pricing and release are unclear at the moment, but it looks like the launch is coming up soon.
