A few months after the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 was released in China, we had anticipated that the device, the direct successor to the Xiaomi Mi Max, would soon make its way to India. It has done just that, as the new smartphone will reportedly launch in India on July 26. The same report also suggests that the new device will have a splendid 6.44-inch full HD display and a 5,300 mAh battery. The Mi Max was a moderate success when it came to India last year for Rs 14,999.
The report further states that while the new Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will be sold online exclusively, it will later migrate to the more traditional offline retail store format. The Indian version has not yet revealed its price tag and the features are expected to be the same ones we saw in the China release.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Specs and Features
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2, when it launched in China, came in two variants, one with 64GB internal storage which was priced at 1,699 Yuan (that translates to approximately Rs 15,948) and another with 128GB internal storage which might set you back by as much as 1,999 Yuan (or approximately Rs 18,765). The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a neat, full metal body besides a 6.4-inch full HD 2.5D curved glass display that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Powering the new smartphone will be a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor that will be paired with the splendid Adreno 506GPU.A standard 4GB RAM will accompany both the 64GB/128GB internal storage versions.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Camera Features
The new Xiaomi Mi Max 2 boasts a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 rear sensor which has a f/2.2 aperture and Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF). The front snapper will be a 5-megapixel selfie one with an 85-degree wide-angle lens as well as f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera of the Mi Max 2 is located on the upper left of the device, which, together with Dual LED flashlight and the handily placed fingerprint scanner, will make the Mi Max 2 a decent entry into the segment. There is a USB Type-C port on the bottom which has speaker holes and Xiaomi has decided to retain the headphone jack. It also features an IR blaster, which the Xiaomi claims can act as a universal remote for televisions and air conditions.
Finally, Xiaomi claims that IR blaster on the new Mi Max 2 can also act as a universal remote. This means that you can use it to control all sorts of devices in your household, including televisions and air conditioners.
