Google to Launch the Android O Today

Just like every year, Google is all set to launch a new edition of their coveted smartphone OS. The latest operating system which is dubbed as the Android O is due to make its debut on Monday. The California-based tech conglomerate is going to hold a launch event for this much-anticipated operating system in New York and has made an arrangement of live streaming the whole event. The inaugural event will start at  2:40 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) or 12.10 AM (next day) in India.

Although the upcoming OS will be called the Android O, the full form of the software is still unknown. According to most of the tech experts, the ‘O’ in the Android O will be named after Oreo, as Google has a knack of naming their operating systems after the chocolates and desserts. Some reports also suggest that Android O will officially be termed as Android Octopus, although it seems a bit unlikely, keeping in the mind what the previous versions are called.

But whatever it may be termed as, Android O is going to offer its users some out-of-the-world features. During the Google I/O 2017 tech event which was held back in May, the tech giant hinted what could be the features of the upcoming Android O. And according to that preview, the forthcoming operating system will enhance battery life and security measures, will improve the audio quality and notification bar, and will include Picture in Picture (PiP) mode.

Now the key question is which devices will get the Android O update first? As we have seen before the Google smartphones first get the updates of a new operating system. So we believe Google will keep that trend again, and smartphones like Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P will be the first handsets to feature the latest OS. If we talk about the new handsets which will come pre-loaded with the Android O, Google Pixel 2 which is going to be unveiled in September, is leading the race. Phones of other smartphone manufacturers such as Lenovo, Motorola, Samsung, OnePlus and Xiaomi will later get the update.
