The OnePlus 5 has been in the headlines for a while now and mostly, it has been smooth sailing. It had, for example, beaten the Huawei P10 at our specs-only contest. The OnePlus 5 was also ahead of the newly launched Blackberry KEYone. Now, it seems that the ‘flagship killer’ will receive a new color variant. The variant is likely to be in Gold.
When the OnePlus 5 was initially released, it arrived in color variants of Slate Gray and Midnight Black. It now seems that a third color option will be added as well. A Weibo post from the official OnePlus site has teased users and enthusiasts about the new color option. This report by The Android Soul also states that the new color option is likely to be gold.
What makes us doubly sure that the new device will be in gold color is the fact that an earlier listing on TENAA had shown off this very option as a likely one. The Weibo post shows off the frames of the already existing variants with a colorless frame beside them, presumably waiting to be given a paint job.
Coming to the specs front, there will not be any changes as far as the new color variant is concerned. Major device manufacturers often try and spice up their device lineup by launching different variants of their most popular devices. The OnePlus 5 is a superior offering and boasts of a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display.
At the heart of this excellent device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. This chipset is the one present in both OnePlus variants, with one variant having 6GB and 64GB of native storage. The more premium variant has 8GB RAM and 128GB of native storage space. The prices of the OnePlus 5 start at Rs 32,999 while the 8GB variant comes for Rs 37,999.
