Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) With Exynos 7885 Chipset Appears on Geekbench

Samsung, which is known for its mid-range devices as much as it is known for its more premium devices, has previously shown off the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018). We have previously covered the device when it showed up at GFXBench. Now, the device has once again shown up at Geekbench. It has also shown off something previously unannounced: the inhouse-developed Samsung Exynos 7885 chipset, which may power the new phone.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) Specs and Features

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is set to be a great addition to the Galaxy series of phones. The Galaxy series has all the ingredients to truly become a great phone lineup: it has mid-range, lower-range, and high-range flagship devices. The new Galaxy A7 (2018) model will be powered by the as-yet-unannounced Exynos 7885 processor. Exynos processors are typically manufactured by Samsung itself and they provide tough competition to the Qualcomm processors.

The upcoming Galaxy A7 has the model number SM-A730F. It will have the Exynos 7885 chipset, which, previous leaks suggest, has been manufactured on a 14nm process. It will be an octa-core processor that will have 2 Cortex- A73 cores besides 6 Cortex-A53 cores. The processor may well be accompanied by a great Mali-G71 GPU. The Geekbench listing also showed off the RAM capacity of the new device. Finally, this new device is all set to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS on board.

Recently, some renders of the Galaxy A7 (2018) and the Galaxy A5 (2018) had leaked out. They showed off dual front cameras. As we saw on the Geekbench test, the results showed off a 1490 score on the device’s single-core test and a good 4172 points on the multi-core test. Such a score is being seen as an indication that the Exynos 7885 chip may be on par with Qualcomm’s mid-variety Snapdragon chipsets. There were rumors that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC would adorn the Galaxy A7 (2018). This may perhaps be in addition to the Exynos 7885 variant that we spoke of here.
