The Chinese smartphone manufacturing giant Xiaomi is currently enjoying a launching spree and the latest addition to the company’s smartphone collection is the Redmi 5A. The Redmi 5A is the successor of the hugely popular Redmi 4A, and the company has launched the smartphone in China with a price tag of CNY 599 (almost Rs. 6,000). The pre-order of the handset will start from the coming Monday and the interested buyers can order it through the company’s official site and from other e-commerce sites of China.
Talking about the design, the Redmi 5A flaunts a metal-like matte texture which according to the company’s claim is “much lighter than the metal.” The handset also comes with rounded corners so that users can grip it comfortably. As for the specifications are concerned, the handset sports a 5-inch HD display with 720×1280 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 296ppi. Under the hood, the smartphone houses a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage capacity, which is further expandable up to 128GB through microSD card.
On the optics front, the Redmi 5A boasts a 13-megapixel rear camera accompanied with f/2.2 aperture, panorama mode, burst mode, HDR mode, and other features. On the front, a 5-megapixel snapper is placed with f/2.0 aperture lens to take selfies and make HD quality video calls. The handset runs on the company’s very own MIUI 9 OS which includes Smart app launcher, Smart assistant, Quick reply, Image search, split-screen multitasking and other features.
The battery backup is one of the highlighting features of the Redmi 5A and the 3000mAh battery is capable of providing eight days of juice, according to the company. This smartphone includes connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, Edge and Micro-USB
