Samsung’s Flagship Flip Phone, Codenamed SM-W2018, Leaked

For some months now, we have been getting reports that Samsung, the South Korean giant, is working on a flip phone in a nod to the ’90s when such devices were popular. In August this year, a device with the code name SM-G9298 had surfaced. It also had the moniker Leader 8. Now, rumor has it that a new device from the Korean giant with the model number SM-W2018 has been leaked and it shows off some of the details.

The first photos and details of the flip phone were brought to light by SamMobile and they seem spectacular, and you can also access the report here. From what we could make out from the leaked photos, the device has two displays and a host of great features which propel the device into the flagship line of phones. These, and the fact that the device aids in abetting the nostalgia of a flip phone, maybe two very good reasons as to why one should purchase such a device.

Like we said, there are going to be two displays and they are joined at a hinge, which looks like a large bezel. Onboard is a fingerprint scanner and a single rear camera. There is a physical keyboard and it also has navigational buttons.

As far as the specs and features of the SM-W2018 are concerned, here’s what we know as of now:  we are expecting flagship-level specifications. There are two 4.2-inch Full HD displays alongside a Snapdragon 835 processor, besides 6GB RAM and a standard 64GB storage, which might change later. The handset could carry a 12-megapixel rear snapper as well as a 5-megapixel front camera. Powering the device will be a 2300mAh battery. There are some sources who suggest that the device could be limited to the Chinese market but we are not in a position to either confirm or deny these reports.
