HTC had, in August last year, promised that some of its devices would soon get the Android 8.0 Oreo update. Indeed, only a couple of days ago, we had reported how the HTC U11 would soon start receiving the Oreo 8.0 update. Now that the HTC 10 has also started receiving the update, the Taiwanese major has stayed true to its word.

The Android 8.0 Oreo update via the Over the Air or OTA route The update carries the version number 3.16.617.2 and is only about 1.8GB in size. Should you wish to go to the latest update, you can always download it from RUU. Incidentally, via this update, one will be able to manually download the desired files and then flash the Android 8.0 Oreo onto the smartphone. Note that flashing will inevitably erase all the data from your smartphone; everything has to be manually restored from scratch. So, you must be extremely careful.
This new Oreo update will also bring the picture-in-picture mode which will let all the users perform two tasks simultaneously. You will now be able to minimise a YouTube video while sending a separate text message or even write an email. The Android Oreo also has several other features including Background limits, the ability to install apps via APK, over 60 new and improved emojis, besides notification dots. The new update will also bring aboard wide-gamut color meant for apps, as well as Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, and Keyboard navigation. You will also get WebView enhancements.
Just to jog your memory, the device has a 5.2-inch Quad HD display that boasts a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The smartphone is powerful thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. It originally ran on the Android Marshmallow operating system. Stay tuned for more updates.
