The Honor 8 Pro has reportedly started receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update. Huawei had previously confirmed the Android 8.0 update for Honor Pro 8 last month. However, the source has not confirmed whether it is the stable version or just another beta update. The phone was launched last year in India with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
According to a report by The AndroidSoul, the Oreo update is available over the air, but can also be downloaded manually on the phone. For that, users can go to Settings>> About Phone to check for the update.
After the Oreo update, the phone will run on Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 operating system as the company has already ditched EMUI 6.0 and 7.0. One of the most prominent features that the update is going to bring is the picture-in-picture mode that will enable users to perform two tasks simultaneously. It has other features like Background Limits, new emojis, notification dots, snoozing individual notifications, adaptive icons, keyboard navigation, Web-view enhancement and many more.
The Honor 8 Pro has a metal unibody design and the best thing about the phone is the dual rear camera setup. Both the cameras have a graphic resolution of 12 megapixels with one used to capture RGB, and the other for monochrome details. The phone also supports 4K recording and has an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies as well as video calling.
Coming to the specifications, the device sports a 5.7-inch QHD LTPS LCD display screen with a resolution of 2560 X 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 515 ppi. It is powered by an in-house Kirin 960 octa-core processor, supported by 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage space, expandable to 256GB by micro-SD card.
On the connectivity side, the device supports 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, dual SIM, and an infrared sensor. It is powered by a 4000mAh battery, enough to last a day or two.
