Nokia 6 (2018) Gets Google Play Support Alongside Android Oreo Update

Nokia 6 (2018) was launched a few days ago and is ready to go on sale in China shortly. Although the phone has much better features, when compared to its predecessor,  one disappointing aspect is that it runs on Android Nougat, instead of the latest version Oreo, out of the box.

According to a report via Gizbot (by NokiaPowerUser), the Nokia 6 (2018) will receive a software update, the first time the device is booted, and it will upgrade itself to the latest version of Android OS released by Google, i.e Android Oreo. One reason why the Nokia 6 (2018) did not ship with the latest version of the software could be because it was not ready when the device was shipped to the distributors and sellers in China.

The report also claims that the variant of the Nokia 6 that has been officially unveiled will not have Google services pre-installed as it is a Chinese variant. However, users can still install Google Play services APK file on the device if they wish. Also, the users will be free from the stress of unlocking the bootloader to install Google services.

The first generation Nokia 6 that was launched in early 2017, did not have the abovementioned feature but received the update as a part of the July security patch. However, it was only for those users who live outside of China and use the International variant of the Nokia 6.

This Nokia smartphone brings aboard a host of new features and improvements than its predecessor. The device features a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display and a completely revamped design. But it does not feature the full-screen design with 18:9 aspect ratio that other smartphones of the present generation boast.

While it still boasts the 16MP rear, 8MP front, and 3000mAh battery, the Nokia 6 (2018) features a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. It also features the Nokia OZO Audio and also the Bothie feature that was launched with the Nokia 8 flagship device.
