Samsun, it seems, is not only keen on resting on the laurels it has received with the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S9 series of flagship smartphones. The South Korean giant is planning to revamp its mid-range ‘J’ series of smartphones too. The latest news is that the Samsung Galaxy J6 with Android Oreo onboard has now been spotted on Geekbench.
The Samsung Galaxy J6 may well be the mid-range phone that the company has always wanted. From what we saw on the benchmarking site, this may be a device which falls between the Galaxy J4 and the Galaxy J8. A possible Galaxy J4 was spotted just days ago.
Not much has been made public by the Geekbench listing. However, we do know certain features of the phone. Apparently, the device has a model number of SM-J600F. So, going by Samsung’s track record, this is clearly the upcoming Samsung Galaxy J6.
The Galaxy J6 is set to be powered by the octa-core Exynos 7870 SoC processor which has been clocked at 1.6GHz. While we have not seen any details of the display part being mentioned, the smartphone is expected to rock a 1080p panel. We say this because the Exynos 7870 processor is capable of supporting a maximum screen resolution of 1,920×1,200. As far as other performance details are concerned, the Galaxy J6 may come with only 2GB of RAM. The device was, however, tested with the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system, which comes as a bit of a surprise, albeit a rather pleasant one.
The fact that the device has been observed on Geekbench was first reported here. We now also know that the device has scored a single-core score of 726 alongside a more presentable multi-core score of 3643. The new Samsung Galaxy J6, as and when it does appear in the public domain, will definitely be a budget phone. Watch this space for more updates.
