Vodafone to Take on Reliance Jio with new Rs 799 and Rs 549 Prepaid Packs

Vodafone India is planning to launch two new packs of Rs 799 and Rs 549 offering  3.5GB and 4.5GB of data respectively for its prepaid customers to take on Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio together.

The new Rs 549 pack has been designed to counter Jio’s Rs 509 pack that offers 3GB of 4G data per day with a validity of 28 days. Vodafone will offer 3.5GB of 4G data per day to its customers. The Rs 799 pack is likely to take on Jio’s Rs 799 pack that offers 5GB of data per day at 4G speeds to its customers. Vodafone will offer up to 4.5GB of data per day. Last month, Bharti Airtel also launched its Rs 799 pack offering 3.5GB of data per day with a validity period of 28 days.

Vodafone is offering 98GB of data at 4G speeds with a daily cap of 3.5GB per day over a 28 day period in its Rs 549 pack. The Rs 799 pack offers 126GB of data over a 28 day period with a daily cap of 4.5GB data. Both the packs also offer unlimited calls across all networks, which include STD and roaming as well as 100 SMS messages per day. Vodafone is also offering a free subscription to Vodafone Play with both the packs to all existing and new prepaid customers.

However, it should be noted that in spite of offering unlimited calls, these packs reportedly will come with a restriction on the daily and weekly limit. Subscribers may make only 250 minutes of voice calls per day and 1000 minutes in a week. Also, subscribers may call a maximum of 300 unique numbers. These limitations are not applicable to Airtel and Jio subscribers, which means they are better off in this regard.

Vodafone has also upgraded its Rs 158 pack last week which now offers 1GB of data per day with a validity period of 28 days. Alongside, it also offers unlimited calls and 100 SMS messages per day.
