Acer has launched Chromebook Tab 10 yesterday and it becomes the first tablet to run on the newly launched Chrome operating system. While Apple is also scheduled to launch its latest lineup of iPad models today, i.e March 27, Acer has launched its own tablet a day earlier to take on Apple’s new models. Acer also becomes the first company to launch a tablet running on Chrome OS. The tablet is scheduled to be released in April this year and will come with a price tag of $329.
The Acer Chromebook 10 tablet features a 9.7-inch display screen with a resolution of 2048 X 1536 pixels, which is similar to the 9.7-inch iPad. It is powered by an OPI processor chip and is backed up with 4GB of RAM. It features a 5-megapixel camera on the rear panel and a 2-megapixel camera on the front side. It also boasts inbuilt storage space of 32GB. It also boasts a battery that can provide a backup up to 9 hours. In terms of connectivity, it features Wi-Fi, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack and Bluetooth 4.1.
The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 also comes with a Wacom EMR Stylus that can be embedded in a specific slot and does not require external charging. Google has also claimed that will be soon provided Expeditions AR support to the rear camera of the tablet for classroom learning. In a blog post, Google has said “Coming soon, teachers can take students on Google Expeditions to the Great Barrier Reef, the Colosseum, and even to the International Space Station—all from the screens of their Chrome devices.”
Apart from that, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 also supports Google Play and users can easily download their favorite Android apps from the Google Play Store. As mentioned earlier, the tablet will be available at a price of $329 and it will be launched in North America first. It may be rolled out in the European countries followed by Africa in May this year.
