Lava Launches Z50 Android Oreo (Go Edition) in India

The Indian smartphone manufacturer, Lava has recently announced the country’s first smartphone running the Google’s Android Oreo (Go Edition) software. Dubbed the Lava Z50, the smartphone has been revealed with price as well as the availability details. The Z50 Android Oreo has been released in partnership with Airtel and is eligible for Rs.2,000 cashback under the ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative from Airtel.

The Lava Z50 Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone comes with a price tag of Rs.4,400. Since the smartphone is launched under the ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ program, users will be able to get the cashback of Rs.2,000 offer on it. That means the Lava Z50’s price is taken down to Rs. 2,400. The smartphone will be available on Amazon India, Snapdeal, Flipkart, and over 100,000 offline retail stores around the country. There are two color options available- in Black and Gold.

The Lava Z50 Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone has a 4.5-inch display with an FWVGA resolution of 480 x 854 and a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass layer on top for extra protection against any damage, as reported here. Under the hood, the smartphone runs the MediaTek MT6737M quad-core processor which has been clocked at 1.1 GHz. On the memory front, the smartphone is equipped with 1GB of RAM plus 8GB of native storage which is further expandable with the use of a dedicated microSD card slot to up to 128GB. The smartphone runs the Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) OS and offers higher available internal storage when compared to regular entry-level Android devices.

In the camera department, the latest offering from the house of Lava measures a 5MP snapper on both the front as well as the rear panels. Connectivity options also include Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS with A-GPS, as well as 4G VoLTE. Measuring about 135 x 66.6 x 9.7 mm, the smartphone weighs 140 grams.
