Following the trend of Facebook and Snapchat that recently added new features to their platform, Twitter has also added a new feature to make it more engaging and improve the overall user experience. The popular microblogging site has added a new bookmark feature globally that will enable the users to save a tweet that they like easily for ready reference later.
“With our new “share” icon on every Tweet, the users will be able to bookmark a tweet, share via Direct Message, or Share off of Twitter any number of ways. Because we put all sharing actions together in one place, it’s easier to save and share privately or publicly – at the moment, or later,” Jesar Shah, Product Manager at Twitter, said in an official blog post yesterday.
The new feature is set to make the platform more interesting for the users and in order to bookmark a tweet, a user has to click the share icon under that particular tweet and select “Add tweet to Bookmarks”. Twitter has added this new feature to a revamped share button that has replaced the existing share button that was used to share tweets posted by other people privately. Users can find those tweets later by clicking on the Bookmarks tab on their profile. One can also delete the bookmarked tweets anytime they wish and this particular feature will not be viewable to the public.
“We tweeted ongoing updates as we built Bookmarks so we could incorporate your input as we worked. By working this way, we learned that you like to save replies so you can answer later and that you may share a Tweet hours or days later after you’ve bookmarked it,” Shah added.
Twitter is rolling out the Bookmark feature globally through its iOS and Android apps, along with Twitter Lite and the native Twitter mobile web version. To recall, Twitter had announced this new feature in October last year and it seems that all the necessary work to implement the feature has been completed finally.
