To take on Reliance Jio and other major telecom operators like Vodafone and Idea, Airtel has rolled out a new Rs 219 plan for the prepaid customers. The new plan offers 1.4GB of 4G/3G data along with unlimited STD, local and roaming calls to any network and 100 SMS per day with a validity of 28 days. It is also offering free Hello Tunes subscription for the above mentioned period.
This new plan is similar to the Rs 199 plan from Airtel that was launched earlier. The Rs 199 plan offers 1.4GB of 4G/3G data with unlimited calls to any network and 100 SMS messages per day with a validity of 28 days. The only difference in the new plan is the additional free subscription to Hello Tunes. Customers who do not want to avail Hello Tunes can buy the Rs 199 plan.
Ever since the entry of Reliance Jio in the telecom market, the other players have been forced to revise their prepaid and postpaid plans and also introduce new plans to compete with the Mukesh Ambani owned company.
To talk about some of the other plans, Airtel has a Rs 299 prepaid plan that competes with Reliance Jio’s Rs 198 plan. Jio offers 2GB of high-speed 4G data along with unlimited calls across all networks, 100 SMS and a free subscription to all Jio apps like Jio Cinema, Jio Music, etc.
The newly introduced Rs 219 plan of Airtel also competes with Rs 199 plan of Vodafone that offers 1GB of data per day along with unlimited calls to all networks over a validity period of 28 days. However, SMS is not free and charged at 25 paise per SMS.
Airtel also recently launched a new plan of Rs 49 for the prepaid customers that offers 3GB of 3G/4G data for 1 day. Airtel subscribers can buy this plan from the official website or use My Airtel app.
