After the launch of the Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and the Nokia 8 Sirocco edition in India last week, HMD Global which currently holds the license to manufacture smartphones under the Nokia brand is expected to introduce a new variant of the Nokia 6 (2018) with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage in India. This is in accordance to a report by NokiaPowerUser that has also claimed the new variant could arrive in India as early as next week with a price tag of Rs 18,999 which is slightly more than the 3GB variant of the Nokia 6 (2018) that was launched at a price of Rs 16,999.
To recall, the Nokia 6 (2018) was first unveiled at the MWC 2018, held in Barcelona in February this year. It is an upgrade of the original Nokia 6 that was launched by the company last year. The smartphone features an improved metal unibody design that is made up of series 6000 Aluminum. The fingerprint sensor has also been moved to the rear panel of the device in a small and elegant circle.
Coming to the specifications of the Nokia 6 (2018), the device sports a 5.5-inch IPS full HD display with a screen resolution of 1080 X 1920 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 630 chipset. It runs on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo flavor out of the box with a stock Android UI feature on top since it is an Android One device.
On the connectivity front, the Nokia 6 (2018) supports 4G VoLTE with a dual-Nano SIM hybrid slot. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/d/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, GPS, USB Type-C port and the 3.5mm audio connector. It is fueled by a 3000mAh battery that supports the fast charging feature.
If the new variant of the Nokia 6 (2018) is unveiled next week, the company may make it available for purchase by the end of this month itself. However, HMD Global is yet to make an official statement about the same.
