Users can check the availability of the latest update manually by diving to Settings>> About Phone>> Software update>> Check Update. If the update is available, it will start downloading automatically, provided you are connected to a secure Wifi connection. It is also to be noted that you need to have a minimum of 50% charge on the battery before you proceed with the update. It is also recommended to take a backup of all the data on the phone before starting the update process as some data may get lost in the process.

Talking about other devices from Samsung that may receive the latest Android update, The Samsung Galaxy A7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge could be next in line. Companies usually provide software and security updates for 18 to 24 months after the release of a particular smartphone. Samsung may continue to follow this trend with the latest Android version.

Coming to the new features that the Android Oreo update brings on board, we have faster booting, extended battery life by cutting down unnecessary background apps that drain the battery and security improvements with the help of the latest Android Security patch of April 2018.

Some of the other features include a Picture-in-Picture mode that will allow users to perform two tasks at the same time. Suppose you are watching a video on Youtube and want to send a text message to a friend, you can now do that by minimizing the Youtube window without actually stopping the app and then send the text message.
