Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury with Face Unlock Feature and Wireless Charging Launched

Samsung was speculated to launch a lite variant of the Samsung Galaxy S8 sometime soon. Rumors were also doing the rounds that the new model may be called Samsung Galaxy S8 Mini. Now, the South Korean tech giant has officially unveiled a new smartphone in China and instead of calling it the Galaxy S8 Mini or Galaxy S8 Lite as rumored earlier, it has been named as Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury.

As per the specifications, the Galaxy S Light Luxury seems to be a lighter variant of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S8 launched last year. However, the smartphone still features a Bixby button and a fingerprint scanner along with the same design.

The Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury has been officially listed on the China website of the company, first spotted by SamMobile. It comes with a display screen with 18.5:9 aspect ratio and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. The smartphone runs on Android Oreo flavor out of the box and also comes with Samsung Pay, wireless charging, iris scanner and water resistivity features.

The smartphone is currently available from Chinese online shopping site JD.com and has been priced at CNY 3,999 which is approximately Rs 42,700. The smartphone is available in two color variants of Burgundy Red and Black.

The dual-SIM variant of the Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It sports a 5.8-inch full HD+ Infinity Display with a resolution of 1080 X 2220 pixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz with 4GB of RAM. On the camera front, the Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury features a single rear camera of 16-megapixels with f/1.7 aperture and autofocus. On the front, the device features an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.

The device comes with 64GB of inbuilt storage that can be further upgraded with a micro-SD card up to 400GB. Connectivity options in the smartphone includes hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, HFC, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio connector.
