After announcing a group video calling feature along with new stickers on Whatsapp last week, the popular chatting app has released a new update to the iOS version of the app. Whatsapp for iOS update 2.18.51 introduces a new feature that will enable iPhone and iPad users to watch Facebook and Instagram videos directly on Whatsapp.
This means all iOS users can now watch Facebook and Instagram videos along with Youtube directly on the app without having to leave it. Earlier, users were redirected to the respective apps upon clicking a Facebook or Instagram video link. Whatsapp has also mentioned in its changelog that iOS users will now be able to watch Facebook and Instagram videos on the chatting platform by clicking on the relevant links.
However, as per reports, the feature is not working at the present time even after the update. But it can be expected that this feature will be made available soon as it has already been announced at the F8 Conference by Mark Zuckerberg, Chairman, and CEO of Facebook.
The changelog also mentions that the new feature also supports Picture-in-Picture mode (PiP). This means users will be able to navigate through the Whatsapp app, video call or chat with different people after playing a certain video and it will continue to play in a bubble on top of the app. Users can also move the video bubble on the app and it also features play/pause, full screen and close options just like the PiP feature of Youtube that was rolled out to all iOS users in January this year.
Mark Zuckerberg also announced at the F8 Conference that a group video calling feature will be made available to all the users of Whatsapp very soon. The new feature will enable up to 4 users to video call among themselves using a split screen setting. It was also announced that Whatsapp will get third party stickers facility very soon.
