If recent rumors reports are to be believed then the LG V40, which is the upcoming flagship device from LG may arrive with as many as 5 cameras. If the report does turn out to be true then it may create a stir in the smartphone market as it will become the first device to sport 5 cameras.
The report suggests that the LG V40 will feature dual front cameras with one or both the sensors capable of face unlock. Additionally, the sensors may use the 3D facial mapping technology to added authenticity. The rear panel, on the other hand, will feature three cameras with a wide angle lens and an ultra-wide lens. However, the report did not mention what the third sensor on the rear panel will be used for. It may be recalled that Huawei had launched the P20 with triple rear cameras a few months ago. The triple cameras on the rear feature an RGB sensor, a monochrome sensor and a telephoto lens.
A report by AndroidPolice has claimed that the LG V40 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC that may also feature quad DAC for enhanced audio rendering capabilities. The smartphone will also sport a dedicated Google Assistant button along with a notch that can be disabled by the user. Although, there is no information about the price or availability of the device as of now.
While the company has been impressive in the optics department in its latest flagship devices, it remains to be seen what these 5 cameras are used for and how it fares in the market after its launch.
Meanwhile, LG is also expected to launch an Android One Go edition based smartphone as well. As per a kernel code discovered by the users of XDA Developers, LG has collaborated with US carrier T-Mobile to launch an exclusive LG Q7 variant based on Android One. It will become the first Android One smartphone from the company.
