HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia mobiles have announced the availability of Android 8.1 Oreo update for the Nokia 2 smartphone. The device was launched in May 2018 and the company had then promised that I would roll out the latest Android Oreo update for all its recently launched devices within a few months. The Nokia 2 device becomes the last one in the lot of recently launched Nokia lineup of smartphones to receive the Android 8.1 Oreo update though it is still in the beta stage.
HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas announced about the rollout on Twitter yesterday. He said that the Android Oreo 8.1 update is a part of the beta program that the company runs. The company also announced that all its current lineup of devices will also receive the Android P beta update in the coming days. Apart from that, the Nokia 1 and the Nokia 2.1 had also received the relevant Android Oreo (Go edition) update recently. To recall, the Nokia 7 plus had already received the Android P beta update.
If you want to download the latest Android 8.1 beta update your Nokia 2 device, you may now do so by visiting the official Nokia Beta Labs page and register yourself. After successful registration, the company will make the update available for your device.
To recall the specifications of the Nokia 2, it features a 5-inch LTPS HD display with an aspect ratio of 16:9. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core 212 SoC coupled with 1GB pf RAM and 8GB of inbuilt storage space. It features an 8-megapixel camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel sensor on the front for taking selfies and video calling. It is powered by a massive 4,000mAh battery under the hood that can fuel the device for 2 to 3 days. It is currently available in three color options of Pewter Black, Pewter White, and Copper.
