Samsung Gear S4 to Launch with Galaxy Note 9 on August 9

Samsung is reportedly making last minute preparations to launch its next-generation smartwatch dubbed as Samsung Gear S4 alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 flagship device on August 9.

According to a report by ET News, Samsung will use Panel Level Packaging (PLP) top build the application processor in its upcoming smartwatch. The report also said that this will make it more efficient and also make to thinner and lightweight than its predecessor. The report further claimed that the Samsung Gear S4 with the latest PLP technology will be sold in China followed by other countries.

Meanwhile, another leaked render of the Samsung Gear S4 has revealed that the wearable will be powered by a 470mAh battery which is more than the 380mAh battery found on its predecessor. Also as per previous reports, the Samsung Gear S4 smartwatch may arrive with WearOS. As per a tweet by popular leaker Evan Blass, the smartwatch is expected to come with WearOS as the operating system. He also stated that he had seen the smartwatch running on WearOS instead of the Samsung’s in-house Tizen OS.

A report by IceUniverse has further claimed that Samsung is currently working on the next-generation smartphone to run on WearOS by Google. This indicates that the South Korean tech giant can launch two smartwatches, one running on WearOS and the other on Tizen.

It was also reported earlier by reliable sources that Gear S4 may be codenamed Galileo and it will arrive with improved specifications and an advanced health and fitness tracking feature than its predecessor. Samsung is also reportedly working on an LTE version of the device for US that will be launched in partnership with Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile in the US.

Further, Samsung Gear 4 may arrive in two different sizes. An earlier report also suggested that the device will bear model number SM-R800 and will be launched at IFA 2018.
