Nokia X5 Likely to be Launched Globally as Nokia 5.1 Plus Shortly

After unveiling the global variant of the Nokia X6 which was dubbed as Nokia 6.1 Plus in Hong Kong, HMD Global has started teasing the global launch of the Nokia X5 as the Nokia 5.1 Plus. It may be recalled that the Nokia X5 was launched in China on July 18 and now the company has confirmed that is not going to be an exclusive to China anymore. Although the name of the device is yet to be confirmed by the company.

Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer at HMD Global had announced the launch of the Nokia X5 in China on July 18 via his official Twitter handle. A user had then questioned him whether the smartphone will be made available in countries like India and Sri Lanka or not. Sarvikas had responded to the tweet saying that the smartphone does not need a poll for the company to decide which countries would receive the handset in their markets. This clearly indicates that HMD Global has plans to release the smartphone globally.

Coming to the specifications of the Nokia X5, it features a 5.86-inch full HD+ display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection on top. It has a resolution of 1520 X 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. It has a notch on top that increases the screen-to-body ratio of 84%. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 processor paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of inbuilt storage space. The internal storage can be further upgraded with a micro-SD card up to a maximum of 256GB.

On the imaging front, the smartphones feature a dual rear camera setup with a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor accompanied by an LED flash. On the front, the device features an 8-megapixel camera with a wide angle lens for taking clear selfies. The camera features bokeh mode, HDR, portrait mode and AI capabilities.

On the connectivity front, the smartphone supports dual SIM VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, WiFi, USB Type-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack. It is powered by a 3,060mAh battery and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
