Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has updated the OnePlus gallery app that is available on the Google Play store. The update reportedly brings the video editing feature found on the OnePlus 6 flagship device to some older models. To recall, the video editing feature was already available on the Gallery app when the OnePlus 6 was launched in May.
The old models that have received the video editing feature include OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T. The update has brought some video editing tools like slow-motion video editing, background music and trimming of videos.
First spotted by AndroidPolice, the updated Gallery app is now available on the Google Play store for download on OnePlus compatible devices. The update features version number 2.6.71 and will now display a pencil icon on the Gallery app. On tapping the pencil, it will show the above-mentioned video editing tools. The scissors icon will allow the users to cut and trim the videos, the option in the middle will allow them to enable filters while the last option will enable them to add background music to the videos.
The changelog of the update on the Google play store mentions the following features:
- Video editing feature to trim videos, add background music and also apply filters
- The ability to edit slow motion videos
- Bug fixes and experience improvements
The latest update will enable the users of older smartphones from the company to enjoy video editing features found on the OnePlus 6 device. However, the update does not bring any improvements to the default camera of the older smartphones. Earlier the company had announced that it will roll out camera improvements for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T so it is likely to follow the same trend this year too.
If you are a OnePlus user, you can download the updated version of the gallery app from Google Play and check out the new capabilities.
