BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X launched in India at a Starting Price of Rs 24,990

Opteimus Infracom, the sole licensee of BlackBerry smartphones in India has officially launched the BlackBerry Evolve and BlackBerry Evolve X is India today. The devices are rebranded versions of the BlackBerry Ghost and BlackBerry Ghost Plus. Just like BlackBerry KEY2, the two new smartphones are available in the country exclusively via Amazon.

Unlike the BlackBerry KEY2 which comes with a physical QWERTY keypad, the BlackBerry Evolve series of smartphones feature a full-screen display without a physical keypad of any sort. As per a company official, these devices have been manufactured in India exclusively for the Indian users.

Coming to the pricing and availability of the two devices, The BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X will be available exclusively via ecommerce major Amazon in the country. While the BlackBerry Evolve carries a price tag of Rs 24,990, the BlackBerry Evolve X will cost Rs 34,900. The devices will go on sale in late August or September. The company is also offering some discounts as launch offers for prospective buyers. ICICI Bank credit card holders will get an instant cashback of 5% on availing EMI options for the phone. Additionally, Reliance Jio users will also get an additional cashback of Rs 3950.

Talking about the specifications, the BlackBerry Evolve features a 5.99-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage which is further expandable with the help of a micro-SD card.

On the optics front, it features a dual camera setup on the rear panel with two 13-megapixel sensors along with an LED flash. On the front, it features a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. Both cameras are capable of recording videos at 1080p resolution and also offers a bokeh effect and low light imaging options.

The BlackBerry Evolve X also features a 5.99-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and covered on the top by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 660 chipsets coupled with 64GB of internal storage which is further upgradable with a micro-SD card.

Just like the BlackBerry Evolve, the Evolve X features a dual rear camera module with a 13-megapixel primary and 12-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, it features a 16-megapixel sensor for taking selfies.
