Airtel Launches Rs 289 Prepaid Plan to Compete with its Rivals

In a bid to compete with its rivals like Vodafone, Idea and Reliance Jio, one of the largest telecom operators in India, Airtel has launched a new prepaid plan of Rs 289 to offer bundled data, SMS and calling benefits to its customers. This new plan is available across all the circles in the country and will offer truly unlimited calling experience without any limits.

As per TelecomTalk, the new prepaid plan offers unlimited local/STD and roaming call benefits along with 100 SMS messages per data and a total of 1GB 3G/4G data with a validity period of 48 days. This plan offers truly unlimited calling benefits without any FUP limits like its other prepaid plans.

To compare this plan with its competitors, Idea has a prepaid plan of Rs 295 that is available in some circles. This plan offers 5GB 2G/3G/4G data along with unlimited voice calling benefits and 100 SMS messages per day. The plan comes with a validity of 42 days. However, the calling benefits come with a FUP limit of 250 minutes per day and a maximum of 1000 minutes per week. While this plan offers more data than the Airtel plan, the latter offers truly unlimited calling benefits without any FUP limit.

Reliance Jio, on the other hand, has a Rs 299 prepaid plan that offers 3GB of 4G data per day along with unlimited voice calling benefits without any FUP limit and 100 SMS messages per day. The plan has a validity of 28 days. Although this plan offers much more data than the Airtel plan, it comes with a much shorter validity period of just 28 days.

Airtel has also recently introduced a Rs 299 plan that offers 1.4GB of data per day along with unlimited calls and 100 SMS messages per day with a validity of 42 days. Though this plan of Airtel is more beneficial than the Rs 289 plan, it is only available to select users and is not an open market plan like the latter.
