Counter Strike: Global Offensive Free Edition Now Available on Steam

Valve has launched a free edition of the popular game Counter Strike on steam platform. Called Counter Strike: Global Offensive, it will allow the gamers to compete against bots in the offline mode and also watch matches through GOTV, the official streaming client of the game. Dubbed as Counter Strike: Global Offensive Free Edition it will provide a chance to the gamers to experience it firsthand without having to shell out Rs 459 in India and $15 in the US. It will also work a s a demo version of the game and provide quite a good experience for the first time players.

However, the full-priced version of the game will provide many added features. The official description on the Steam page of Counter Strike: Global Offensive says “ it enables access to online content and features, including multiplayer gameplay, official matchmaking, in-game inventories, skill groups, XP, ranks, and other online features.”

The free version of Counter Strike : Global Offensive was announced last Wednesday and was rolled out as a part of the game patch which also added new tournament items from FACEIT 2018 London CS:GO Major Championship. The new patch also introduced support for the new Panorama user interface on low-end machines. Apart from the patch, the developer of the game Valve also rolled out integration on GOTV and availability of team logos on Friday.

Originally released in 2012, Counter Strike is one of the most popular multiplayer first-person shooter game that is available on multiple platforms like Windows PC, macOS, Linux, Steam OS, PS3 and Xbox 360. Counter Strike: Global Offensive is the fourth installment of the game with the previous three being massively successful and selling over 25 million units. Now, it remains to be seen how the latest installment fares among the gamers, especially after a free version has been made available.
