Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 3 Starts Receiving September Android Security Patch

HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia devices has always been very prompt when it comes to rolling out the latest Android security and software updates to its lineup of devices. Now, the company has started rolling out the Android Security patch for the month of September to the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 3 in India. The official changelog for the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 3 states that only the Android Security patch of September 2018 is being rolled out currently. Notably, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is a mid-range smartphone that was launched in India with a price tag of Rs 15,999 while the Nokia 3 is an affordable variant priced at Rs 8,000.

The software update is available over-the-air (OTA) and is being rolled out in batches. Users who have not received a notification about the update on their devices can manually check for it by heading to settings. As per screenshots shared by the folks at NokiaPowerUser, the Android update for Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a size of 71.8MB while for the Nokia 3 it is 84.8MB.

To recall the specifications, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is a mid-range device that features a 5.8-inch full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 X 2280 pixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space. The inbuilt storage can be further upgraded with the help of a micro-SD card up to 400GB. On the optics front, it sports a dual rear camera module comprising of a 16-megapixel primary and a 5-megapixel secondary camera. On the front, it features a 16-megapixel sensor. It is powered by a 3,960mAh battery that supports fast charging.

The Nokia 3, on the other hand, is a budget offering from the company that was launched in the country last year. It features a 5-inch display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek 6737SoC with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage space. On the optics front, it features an 8-megapixel sensor on the front and the back panel. Powered by a 2,650mAh battery, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
