Nokia 7.1 Plus with Dual Rear Cameras and Snapdragon 636SoC Launched

HMD Global, the licensee of Nokia devices has launched the much awaited Nokia 7.1 Plus at an event held in London yesterday. The Nokia 7.1 Plus becomes the successor to Nokia 7 launched last year. Some of the key specifications of the new smartphone include 19:9 aspect ratio display with a notch at the top, Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC under the hood, 6000 series Aluminum body, fast charging support via USB Type-C port and dual rear camera setup. The device is a part of the Android Enterprise Recommended group is scheduled to receive regular software and security in the next few years.

Coming to the price, the Nokia 7.1 Plus comes with a price tag ranging from EUR 299 to EUR 349 depending on the region. The phone will be available in two color options of Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel globally, starting from this month i.e October 2018 although the exact date has not been revealed by the company yet. Availability or pricing details for Indian markets has not been announced yet.

Talking about the specifications, the Nokia 7.1 Plus sports a 5.84-inch full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 X 2280 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The display also supports HDR 10 and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the top. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636SoC under the hood coupled with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of inbuilt storage space.

On the optics front, the Nokia 7.1 Plus features a dual rear camera module comprising of a 12-megapixel primary sensor with autofocus and f/1.8 aperture and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with fixed focus and f/2.4 aperture. The cameras have been arranged in a vertical configuration supported by an LED flash. On the front, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel fixed focus sensor with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling.

Connectivity options in the smartphone include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth  v5.0, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors in the smartphone include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, electronic compass, proximity sensor, gyroscope, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Powered by a 3,060mAh battery, the Nokia 7.1 Plus runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and will be upgradable to Android 9 Pie.
