Samsung W2019 Android Flip Phone with Dual Displays Launched

Samsung has unveiled the much anticipated W2019 clamshell smartphone with top end specifications and features. The Samsung W2019 becomes the successor to Samsung W2018 launched last year and it comes in two different variants, the Gold Extreme Edition, and Platinum Golden Collector’s Edition. Both the variants feature similar specifications and only differs in terms of color. While the former features a Gold finish, the latter comes with a Silver paint job. The W2019 also features Bixby integration along with some exclusive features that can be accessed by long pressing the “8” key.

The price and availability details of the W2019 are yet to be announced by the company but it is expected that the smartphone will be launched exclusively in China, just like its predecessor, the Samsung W2018. The smartphone has already been listed on Samsung China website and is expected to be rolled out in the country soon.

Similar to the previous W series Android flip phone by Samsung, the Samsung W2019 features a premium look with anodized diamond-cut Aluminum and glass finish. The phone also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor along with a compact T9 keyboard to enable one-handed access. In addition to all these, users can also press and hold the “8” key on the keypad to access exclusive features.

Coming to the specifications, the Samsung W2019 features two 4.2-inch HD Super AMOLED displays with 16:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM. The device features 128GB of inbuilt storage space which is further upgradable with a micro-SD card up to a maximum of 512GB.

On the optics front, the smartphone features a dual rear camera setup comprising of a 12-megapixel primary sensor and another 12-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, it features an 8-megapixel sensor for taking selfies and video calling.

Connectivity options in the smartphone include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, ANT+, NFC, and USB Type-C port. Powered by a modest 3,070mAh battery, the device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
