Google confirmed that it has been working on a prototype of a foldable smartphone. After Samsung and Huawei, Xiaomi was the first one to follow the path but now it seems that mighty Google has put its interest on a foldable device.
The head of the pixel division, Mario Queiroz has given a positive nod on this rumor and completely agreed that Google actually is working on something similar.
Here is the actual announcement by him while giving an interview to CNET-
“We’re definitely prototyping the technology. We’ve been doing it for a long time.” However, he also added that “I don’t think there’s a clear use case yet.”
On another place, the same man quoted- “We’re prototyping foldable displays and many other new hardware technologies, and have no related product announcements to make at this time.”
The foldable smartphone isn’t easy to buy as the base price of this type of devices comes at a minimum $2000 right now. According to the market research by 2022, foldable devices will take around 10% business of smart devices. So, Google is probably making an eye on it.
