3Dsimo: The first open-source handheld workshop is here

Calling all makers, artists, and hobbyists! Your tool set just got a lot lighter thanks to the newly revealed devices by European manufacturer, 3Dsimo. Available now on Indiegogo for pre-order is the 3Dsimo MultiPro and the 3Dsimo Kit 2, two multifunctional gadgets that will take your ideas from thought to life.

There’s a reason 3Dsimo products have been titled “the handheld workshop.” They are the perfect on-the-go devices with interchangeable functionalities and they can easily fit in your bag or even your pocket. With either, you’ll be able to 3D print, solder, burn, foam cut or even use them as a power drill, jigsaw, or electric screwdriver.

Here are the differences: The 3Dsimo MultiPro is ready-to-go. You can purchase the device with 3 attachments and add up to 4 more to your kit. The 3DSimo Kit 2, on the other hand, is open-source. You can pre-order the main device, but the attachments are all available to download on the 3Dsimo Github for free. Want to edit the attachments to better fit your needs? Go for it. Of course, you’ll need a 3D printer for this.

Founder of 3Dsimo, David Paškevič, says “What matters to us is the quality of our products, as well as the usability of our products in everyday life. At the same time, we are modernizing workshop equipment to the 21st century. Users can easily switch out attachments and the device will automatically register which one you’re using. Then, you can set the speed of extrusion, temperature, and material. Not only that, but you can use any 3D printer material on the market.”

That’s right, you can use any 3D printer material you can find.

Both devices are available for pre-order on Indiegogo now. The campaign is already set to hit its goal within the next few hours.
