So if you are a fanatic of Tizen software or bored of using Android, iOS or Windows then you can consider buying this handset. Also as it is a low range device, the first time smartphone users can also gaze an eye to this all new Samsung Z3. But before you consider to buy this handset let’s check what our experts have to say about this smartphone via our exclusive Samsung Z3 Review.

Samsung Z3 Design Review

To those who are already familiar with the previous two Tizen smartphones, the Samsung Z and Samsung Z1, the Z3 doesn’t strike any significant change in the lineup. The company continues to use the same plastic polycarbonate build structure we’ve seen in many Galaxy smartphones throughout these years. It indicates typical Samsung design from every angle even though there’s a different home button on the front and the front-facing camera & sensors are placed differently.

The Z3 features a flat oval-shaped home button found in almost all the Galaxy devices, instead of the square one that the Z1 had. The phone flaunts a bigger screen as well, at 5 inches. The power button is placed on the right, volume buttons are on the left, and the back panel remains almost unchanged as well. Z3, however, is definitely slimmer and sleeker than the Z1 by almost 2mm and thus offers a good grip. The handset is available in three different colour variants Silver, Black and Gold.

The phone measures 141.6 x 70 x 7.9 mm and weighs 137 gramme.

Samsung Z3 Display Review

Samsung Z3 sports a 5-inch HD display with 720×1280-pixel resolution with 294 pixel per inch density. The Super Amoled display is vivid, In short vibrant and flaunts deep saturated colour tones. At 5 inches diagonally, it is also easy to access all the corners with oneIn short, it displays is surely going to give it thumbs up in this Samsung Z3 Review.

Samsung Z3 Camera Review

We did not have towering expectations of the Z3’s camera. The image quality was mediocore, as seen with other basic level smartphones. The 8-megapixel rear snapper with f/2.2 aperture shoots HD resolution video, which was not impressive at all. A VGA (480×640 pixel) resolution option  is also available for video recording . The 5-megapixel front-facing camera however shoot decent pictures. The camera app features Panorama, Auto, Beauty Face, Pro, Dream Shot, HDR, Night, and Continuous Shot modes. A double-tap on the home button launches up the camera application quickly.

Samsung Z3 OS Review

Tizen , the open-source OS developed by Samsung has gained extra attention recently, being the platform of choice for the company’s latest Gear S2 smartwatch. But Tizen was originally created for  a much bigger deal. Reducing Samsung’s reliance on Android for most of its smartphones was the main intention behind the birth of Tizen. But after numerous years of development, only two Tizen-powered smartphones have actually made it to market: the low-end Samsung Z and Samsung Z1, which unveiled earlier this year in India.

The brand new Samsung  Z3 is the company’s first to run Tizen 2.4. This latest version of the OS is not much different from Tizen 2.3, with which Z1 is packed with. For Android users, the UI will feel very simple, basic and easy to use; something Samsung says is important. It offers a static interface with circular app icons. All the basic options can be found under ‘Settings’ and the notification tray provides a single scrollable row of quick toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, torch and other functions. The phone also facilitates the users to change the handset theme or customise it via the ‘Styler’ option. This Tizen OS is surely giving impact to our Samsung Z3 Review.

Processor, Storage and Battery Review

Samsung Z3 is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC7730S SoC backed with 1GB of RAM. Although on paper the Z3 features 1GB of RAM, but a major part will be consumed by the operating system. As for the storage, this handset comes with 8GB internal storage out of which only 4.9GB is available for media storage and apps. However, the device supports up to 128GB of further expandable storage capability via microSD card. For our time constraint we were unable to check the full processor capabilities, but we observed lags while multitasking with five apps as well as the app switching was not smooth also. The phone heated up slightly when played few games. The device is backed with a 2600 mAh Li-Ion battery.

Other Features

Samsung’s My Galaxy app service and MixRadio app stole the entire limelight at the event. The MixRadio app will offer the Samsung Z3 users to access 30 million songs free for life. It has an ‘intelligent’ RECO engine that can recommend songs based on users’ previous actions. The company also launched the My Galaxy app, which will be accessible for Samsung devices via Google Play and the Tizen Store. The app provides discounts, deals, and device care services in four categories: Home, Care, Services and My Page. Home shows provides and deals (from partners such as Paytm, Pizza Hut, Bookmyshow, Amazon, and Coupon Dunia); Services shows options for food, recharges, and travel; Care facilitates users locate Samsung stores and service centres, as well as services including the Samsung Smart Tutor; and finally My Page displays saved favourite offers, payback points which can be redeemed via Samsung Stores, and more. Both My Galaxy and MixRadio can be uninstalled.

Wrap Up

Based on the key specs we can easily say that Samsung Z3 is an another low budget smart phone. It falls behind when you compare with other sub ten thousand smartphones such as Motorola Moto G2, Lenovo A 7000, Yu Yunique and Asus Zenfone 2 Laser. So in case you don’t want to use any other unique operating system then better stick to the known, traditional  operating systems.
