Asus Smartphones To Get Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update

The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer Asus has announced that they are going to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in March for several devices including the ZenFone Zoom. The ZenFone series users have been waiting for this update for a long time and it looks like they would have to fret over it no longer. The updates are going to give a boost of confidence and is aimed at performance enhancements and stability of the Asus devices.

Asus has also shares list of devices that will get Android 6.0 Marshmallow, given below:

ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML, ZE551ML), ZenFone 2 Deluxe (ZE551ML), ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition (ZE551ML), ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KG, ZE500KL, ZE550KL, ZE551KL, ZE600KL, ZE601KL), ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL), ZenFone Max (ZC550KL), and ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML). Also in the list includes PadFone S smartphone.

Along with the Marshmallow update, the company has also announced that they are going to replace three of their default company’s home-grown apps, namely, Asus Mail, Asus Messenger,and Asus Calendar and instead introduce Google Gmail, Messenger and Calender. These app will serve as default app and therefore even after you update and restore the device to ‘factory setting’, Google Gmail, Messenger and Calender are going to be your default. But for those who don’t want to move to Google after using Asus app for years, our advice is to not worry. One can download the Asus app from Google Play Store.

Asus have been working on these updates for sometimes now but due to unknown reasons had suffered delay. The updates are going to roll out sometimes in Q2 of 2016, so its going to be sometimes before you get a taste of Google’s latest android version, Marshmallow.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will also bring features like Permissions, Battery Optimisation, Google Now on Tap, Fingerprint Scanner etc. According to recent reports, the adoption rate for Android 6.0 only recently hit 1 percent.
