Xiaomi Not Working on Mi 5S, Next Flagship Could be Called Mi Note S

Xiaomi has revealed that contrary to popular belief, the company is currently not working on Xiaomi Mi 5S. Now it’s being speculated that a certain Xiaomi Mi Note S will come out this month.

The company teased of something with an ‘S’ so now it looks like the ‘S’ was not meant for the Mi 5s but the Mi Note S. According to rumours, Xiaomi has sent out invites for an event at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing on September 27. So it’s likely that Xiaomi Note S is launching in that event.

Apart from the name, the leaks that we reported of Mi 5S still stand. Only recently it was heard that the curved display would support 3D Touch. Now another leaked image listing the full specs of the phone has emerged. The device will sport a 5.15-inch screen with Force Touch. There’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC with a quad-core 2.4GHz CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU under the hood, that comes along with 256GB of UFS 2.0 storage and 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM that runs at a zippier clock speed of 1866MHz. Previously there were rumours of a 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and a premium version with 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

According to the leaks, the device will have 16-megapixels of rear camera that’ll come equipped with an aperture of f/1.8. PDAF focus and 4 axes optical image stabilisation. It can also shoot 4K videos at 30 fps. Moreover, Xiaomi Mi Note S will be backed by a 3490mAh battery and it’ll have a Qualcomm’s fast charge 3.0. The microUSB port has been replaced by USB Type-C port. The handset will weigh 147 grammes, support NFC which probably means the device can work with Xiaomi Pay. Rumours has it that it might sport Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and it’ll be 7.25mm thick. The smartphone is said to measure 144.5×69.2×7.2mm and run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 on top.
