Hardware

Air 3 will be powered by an A9 processor, with 3GB RAM for faster processing of data and efficiencies in the tablet. Moreover, iPad Air 3 will have a four-speaker audio system and full Apple support. The iPad Mini 5 in turn, is also slated to sport the same A9 processor which is quite a suitable one for smaller tablets or smartphones as cited by the company itself. The iPad mini 5 is rumoured to come with 4 GB of RAM making it a notch faster than the iPad Air 3.

Software

On the software front, both the devices are slated to be equipped with Apple iOS 10 and Apple’s 3D Touch/Force Touch feature which is skilled in recording the amount of pressure being applied to the screen and offers differing options as a result.

Display

The upcoming iPad Air 3 has a promising 9.7-inch display with a 2,048 to 1,536 pixel resolution while the iPad Mini 5 will sport a 7.9″ Retina IPS Display sporting the same resolution specification. Both the devices are expected to be rolled out with Gorilla Glass 4 protection from Corning.

Camera

Apple devices have always been known for their optics and the same goes for the iPad line-up as well with both the upcoming tablets shaping up to be moderately efficient on-the-go shooters. The iPad Air 3 is expected to sport a 13MP Rear Camera with LED flash and a front-facing 6MP camera. In turn, the iPad Mini 5 is pegged to feature an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera.

Battery and Other features

battery backup and capacity are topics of huge concern today with more and more users looking for devices with efficient battery performance. The iPad Mini 5 is reported to come out with a mammoth 5,124 mAh battery which can be expected to last for a minimum of 16 hours of talk time. Battery specifications of the iPad Air 3 have not surfaced so far but it can be quite easily imagined that the premium tablet might even house a battery of the same capacity as the iPad Mini 5.

Moreover, the iPad Air 3 and the iPad mini will bear a fingerprint scanner that will support Apple Pay as it does with the iPhones. As with the iPad mini, since it doesn’t support NFC, Apple Pay will not be visible. Also, the latest iPad Air is forecasted to have a Smart Connector, which will allow users to connect the tablet to accessories like the Apple Pen and Keyboard while the new iPad mini will come out with Apple’s posh new stylus, the Apple Pencil.

Apple has chosen to stay more or less tight-lipped regarding the launch and availability of the devices as of now. But seeing as the tech firm will soon be ready to launch these premium tablets into the market, there is significant hope that more news regarding the devices in the iPad line-up will surface soon.
